Lessons Learned from my U.S. Federal Employer

Chapter 2 - Filing an Informal EEO Complaint within the ARS

[Filing an Informal EEO complaint within the employing agency (ARS) is required before contacting the parent agency (USDA). For the scientists in Alaska, this step served only to delay the process (by at least 30 days), since the ARS Administrator had already made it clear that a “hostile environment for women” and “discriminatory treatment” by a supervisor are considered “nongrievable matters” within the ARS.]

Filing an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) complaint with ARS:

            -  the first woman (of three) files a complaint against our supervisor (EEO case: ARS-08-24)

            -  the second woman (of three) files a complaint against our supervisor (EEO case: ARS-08-31)

            -  the third woman (of three) files a complaint against our supervisor (EEO case: ARS-08-40)
